Ravi Mistry is a leader, entrepreneur, angel investor, educator, and mentor. His professional career has spanned several industries, including life sciences, technology, and non-profits, in various capacities as Founder, Board Chairman/Director, President, Vice President, Sr. Director, and Manager. He brings operational experience covering all areas of business operations, especially for start-up companies: Finance, Legal and IP, HR Management, Global Operations, and Corporate Administration. He has managed closing of Seed, Series A/B funding totaling over $35M. Ravi also managed research grants program, which brought in ~$3.5M funding from National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Ravi serves as Executive Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar Foundation, a US-based Charitable Trust. The Foundation's mission is to raise endowment funds through philanthropic financial contributions from US-based well-wishers.Ravi is responsible for designing and managing the Foundation's worldwide capital campaign with primary focus on the US, as well as serving as a liaison between donors and IIT Gandhinagar on important initiatives supported by the donors. Previously, Ravi was member of founding team of Virident Systems, a Silicon Valley based technology startup that was acquired by HGST/Western Digital for $685M. Prior to Virident, he held management positions in the life sciences industry.
Past President of EPPIC Global Network, Ravi now serves on EPPIC Board. EPPPIC is a non-profit life sciences professional organization founded in the Bay Area in 1998. He has been Adjunct Professor in the MBA program at Keller Graduate School of Management, DeVry University, Fremont, California, at California State University East Bay (CSUEB), Hayward, California, and at Ohlone College, Fremont, California. Ravi has been a mentor/judge to numerous global business plan competitions, including some at US universities, in technology and life sciences ventures. Over the past 40 years, Ravi has contributed to various community, academic, and professional non-profit organizations as his way of paying back to the community. Among them: Vice President, Stanford India Association; Director and Vice President on CSUEB Alumni Board; President of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Silicon Valley chapter; Member of West San Jose Kiwanis Club; Coach for youth soccer.
Ravi has authored 30+ technical reports, business plans, and publications. As a member of the International Reconnaissance Team led by Prof. Emeritus Haresh Shah of Stanford University, he visited the earthquake-stricken areas of Gujarat post the 7.9 magnitude Bhuj earthquake on January 26, 2001 that killed over 18,000 people. Ravi is Gold Medalist from Gujarat University, India from where he holds BE degree in Civil Engineering. He received his Masters degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA in Finance from CSUEB.
