Dr.  Vijay Vaidyanathan

Dr. Vijay Vaidyanathan is the Founding Chair of the Biomedical Engineering department at UNT. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and post-baccalaureate degree in Electronics Engineering from University of Mumbai, India. 

Dr. Vaidyanathan’s research interests include biomedical instrumentation – remote health monitoring for seniors, passive exoskeleton design for seniors; and biomedical optics for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He has obtained funding on research and education grants from federal and state agencies, industry, and national organizations. He has published numerous papers in refereed journals such as IEEE Transactions and Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of BMES.
